Aura Semiconductor and Mindtree have combined their IP to offer a complete Bluetooth LE 5 wireless connectivity product for IoT devices.

Aura Semiconductor claims it has the smallest IoT radio transceiver IP for the Bluetooth LE 5 standard, with the RF hard IP occupying less than 0.5mm². Aura's IP has an RX peak current of 5mA and a TX peak current of 5.4mA from a 1.1V rail in TSMC's 40nm process node.

Mindtree's IP portfolio includes certified, customisable silicon IP for Bluetooth Smart 4.2 and 5, and complete certified protocol Stack and Profiles Software for Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth Smart Ready.

The collaboration has resulted in combining Mindtree’s optimised Bluetooth IP and Aura’s radio.

“Customers look for pre-integrated solutions to minimize the risk to their products and our solution addresses this core need,” explained Jayanth Krishna, General Manager Short Range Wireless Business, Mindtree.

“Our combined solution has been licensed by a Tier-1 semiconductor vendor on the 40nm process node and we expect many more design-wins in the near future,” added Srinath Sridharan, CEO of Aura, without revealing the name of that customer.
