GE adds metal-clad switchgear to MV portfolio

GE expands its medium-voltage offering with the launch of IEEE OEM modules, a retrofit vacuum circuit breaker and a metal-clad switchgear.

GE has rolled out its IEEE MV portfolio consisting of three new solutions that include a circuit breaker in a box, a retrofit vacuum circuit breaker and a metal-clad switchgear.

The SecoBloc OEM modules are designed specifically for use by OEM switchgear manufacturers building IEEE metalclad designs. The modules are rated for 5kV and 15kV applications, 1200A to 3000A and up to 40kA short circuit rating. These enclosure modules are designed to house GE's IEEE-rated SecoVac VB2+ vacuum circuit breakers.

Along with SecoBloc, GE also offers additional OEM construction options as a L-frame or cell kit to be integrated into their design based on their level of need.

Meanwhile, the SecoVac R – IEEE retrofit vacuum circuit breaker is designed to easily replace VCBs in existing GE switchgear in systems up to 15kV maximum rated voltage. It is designed and tested to the requirements of IEEE C37.04, C37.06, C37.20.2, C37.09, including continuous current, short circuit and short-time current, capacitive switching and endurance.

SecoVac R is a streamlined solution to update legacy vacuum circuit breakers with smart design features such as simplified mechanism, bringing shorter maintenance times and simple installation to customers.

The SecoGear – IEEE metal-clad switchgear is designed to distribute power from the substation to the electrical room for efficient facility operations in industrial and commercial applications. SecoGear is rated for 5kV – 15kV applications, 1200A – 2000A and up to 40kA short circuit rating, and is designed to house GE’s SecoVac VB2+ embedded pole vacuum circuit breakers.

SecoGear is available in standard IEEE metal-clad construction.
