The AOZ226X from AOS enables computing chipsets that are pushing the limits of DC/DC converter size such as those in the latest notebooks, ultrabooks, servers and high-end smart TVs.

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS) has announced its second generation of synchronous EZBuck regulators featuring a proprietary Constant On-Time (COT) control architecture that allows smaller solutions and streamlines designs.

According to the company, the highly-efficient AOZ226X enables the next generation computing chipsets that are pushing the limits of DC/DC converter size such as those in the latest notebook PCs, ultrabooks, graphics cards, servers, data storage systems and high-end smart TVs.

AOZ226X uses a proprietary COT PWM control with input feed-forward and results in ultra-fast transient response while maintaining relatively constant switching frequency over the entire input voltage range. The on-time is programmed externally. This new generation is ideal for enhancing the performance of DDR and Platform Controller Hub (PCH) applications. It is capable of supplying up to 15A of continuous output current with an output voltage adjustable down to 0.6V (±1%).

The devices features low RDS(ON) internal NFETs, selectable PFM light load operation, ripple reduction, power good output, integrated bootstrap diode, short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown.
