The Mechatronics and Robotics Education Kit contains a full suite of course materials written around a car kit embedded with the ARM-based KL25Z microcontroller.

The ARM University Programme has rolled out its 10th education kit, this time tackling the subject of mechatronics and robotics systems.

The Mechatronics and Robotics Education Kit contains a full suite of course materials written around a car kit embedded with the ARM-based KL25Z microcontroller and licences of the ARM Keil-MDK Professional embedded software development tool.

The education kit contains a number of modules sufficient to run a typical term-length course in 10-12 weeks. It includes lecture notes in PPT format, lab exercises with solution. In addition to the teaching materials, the kit also provides industry standard software development tools from ARM and hardware platforms from partners.

ARM said the course materials are cross-disciplinary, covering a range of topics from building simple motor-control circuits to controlling a vehicle’s speed and steering, building power supplies for autonomous systems and optical sensing for robots.

Like all of the ARM University Programme’s education kits, the materials are designed to provide a tested and proven methodology for teaching a very practical subject. The labs, according to ARM, are designed to take students through a sequence of hands-on projects, each helping them to validate the underlying concepts and acquire the skills and knowledge they need to design and build mechatronics and robotics systems.

The Mechatronics and Robotics Education Kit course materials are available free of charge to qualified academics at universities worldwide. Early academic adopters will also receive a free car kit sponsored by Landzo.
