NEC Tech set to hire 1,000 in a bid to boost revenue

NTI and its Japan-based parent NEC has announced its plan to collaborate and set up an Open Source Software centre in India to provide support for OSS.

To hit its target of 66% growth revenue to Rs.603.70 crore ($90 million) in the next three years, IT company NEC Technologies India plans to bring in 1,000 engineers to its workforce and boost its offshore support centres.

"We are expecting that our revenue will reach Rs.603.70 crore
($90 million) in three years driven by open source software stacks and offshore delivery business. We are aiming to double headcount from about 1,000 at present to 2,000 to support growth," NEC Technologies India (NTI) CEO and MD Anil Gupta said.

He added that NTI's revenue was around Rs.362.22 crore ($54 million) in 2015-16 and most of it came from overseas clients.

"Business from India was around 15%. We expect by 2018 there will be more people looking for OSS solutions. Indian government has also announced its policy to procure OSS based products which will drive the business," Gupta said.

NTI and its Japan-based parent NEC today announced to jointly set up an Open Source Software centre in India to provide support for OSS used in various businesses in domestic market as well as to clients globally.

"The centre will start with more than 50 engineers now. In next year we will grow this number to over 75 and then over 100 in 2018," Gupta said.

The OSS centre will be set up in Noida as a division of NTI.
